It’s here. It’s in my home town on the dozey Far South Coast of New South Wales.

Two Covid-19 cases have been identified right here in Merimbula. Among the eight exposure sites between Tura Beach and Eden are the ones I always expected to make the list: the local Woolworths and the Medical Centre I normally go to.

Luckily, I have scarcely set foot outside in two months.

On 18 June this year – two days after this latest outbreak started – the New South Wales government announced two locally acquired cases of Covid-19.

This morning, the plague state of New South Wales announced another 1,431 Covid-19 cases and 12 more deaths to 8pm last night, a new daily record for Australia.

The news headlines regarding New South Wales are growing increasingly bizzare, as bizzare in fact as the state premier’s statements.

This morning, as NSW admitted to another 1,116 new Covid-19 infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night – and another four deaths – Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the state had done “very well”.

Another dismal day Down Under as the Coronavirus wends its larrikan way across the Lucky Country, as author Donald Horne once acerbicly described Australia.

The eastern state of New South Wales continues demonstrating its so-called “gold standard”. Or at least that is what both the incompetent Scott Morrison, the (alleged) Prime Minister, and the equally incompetent NSW Premier Gladys B call it.

Phoned my local General Practioner and booked a vaccination. At my age the only available option is Astra-Zeneca or nothing. A three week wait.

Astra-Zeneca, which is apparently getting rebranded as Vaxzevira to distance the product from all the bad publicity and hesitancy.

An hour later the clinic phoned to say they have had a cancellation and I can get vaxed tomorrow morning!

When will NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian and her dodgy state government colleagues be arrested for criminal negligence?

This morning she announced 466 additional Covid-19 cases, four more deaths and 5km travel limit (down from the laughable 10km) for greater Sydney.

If Gladys had implemented a strict lockdown for all Sydney and surrounds two months ago we would not now be in this growing crisis.

In February 2020, the Australian prime Minister Scott Morrison declared a pandemic and then sat on his arse while the Ruby Princess sailed into Sydney Harbour and dispersed the novel coronavirus across the country.

Ever since, it has been a game of ‘rona whack-a-mole.

Has there ever been a greater admission of failure by an Australian government?

The reactionary Morrison LNP government is threatening Aussies attempting to fly home from India with 5 years in jail or a fine of up to $66,000 after dribbling idiot Health Minister Greg *unt made the unprecedented decision with an emergency determination under the Biosecurity Act that he did NOT implement for the UK or USA when those countries fell off the Covid-19 cliff.

Coronavirus by the Numbers

By Max Gross, 27 March 2020

Australians still do not realise the seriousness of the COVID19 pandemic and Sideshow Scott and the federal government’s fumbling, bumbling response is not helping get that crucial message across.

The insurance industry takes is seriously though.

Australia burns while the government ignores reality

First it was Sydney, then Canberra, now Melbourne is opaque with acrid bushfire smoke, the worst it has ever endured.

Smoke from catastrophic bushfires – mega-fires and firestorms – still burning across north east Gippsland has drifted south and turned suburban air hazardous.

Overnight the EPA rated Melbourne’s air quality the worst in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

Brecht was right.

“Do not rejoice in his defeat, you men. For though the bastard is dead, the bitch that bore him is again in heat”.

And here we are in the 21st Century and the barbarians ARE inside the gates.

Six years of relentless opportunistic LNP dog-whistling xenophobia, Islamophobia, bigotry and racism has finally paid off: on Friday 15 March a “white supremacist” – an Aussie – murdered 51 people in Christchurch New Zealand as they prayed. Fifty people are injured. The current debacle involving Australian MPs found by the High Court to be dual-citizens and thus law breakers in breach of the Constitution and ineligible to sit in parliament has been as entertaining as it is bewildering.
